LEGAL ASSISTANTS ATTEND THE SEMINAR SESSION ON NEW CHAPTER 13 PLAN AT NO CHARGE!

The new local form Chapter 13 Plan for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi is mandatory beginning December 1, 2017. Legal assistants are invited to attend the seminar session on the new Chapter 13 plan at 8:15 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at no charge. Jeff Collier, James Henley, and Blake Tyler will explain the new form plan and provide cross-references to the old plan to ease the transition to the new plan requirements. 

Top Law Students Receive Scholarship Awards From MBC

Again this year, the Mississippi Bankrupty Conference sponsored scholarship awards at both the University of Mississippi School of Law and the Mississippi College School of Law.  Evans Henry (UM) and John Duke (MC) each received a scholarship award in recognition for their excellance in their respective bankruptcy courses.  Evans Henry was recognized at the University of Mississippi School of Law on March 19, 2015, at the annual Scholarship Reception.  John Duke was recognized at the Mississippi School of Law on April 9, 2015, at its 2015 Law Day.

Mississippi Law Students Have Great Success in National Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition

The Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference congratulates the moot court teams from Mississippi College School of Law and the University of Mississippi School of Law for their success in the 2015 National Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition in New York City, and the 2015 Fifth Circuit Elliott Cup Competition held in Houston.

Donation Made to the University of Mississippi Business Law Institute

On May 29, 2013, Honorable David W. Houston, III and the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference (represented by Terre Vardaman and Kristina Johnson) made a joint donation in the name of David W. Houston III to the University of Mississippi Business Law Institute being formed at the University of Mississippi School of Law. The Conference made the donation in the name of Honorable David W. Houston, III in honor of his distinguished career as a U. S. Bankruptcy Judge and years of commitment to the Conference and its goals to increase education in the fields of bankruptcy and insolvency law.
